Resilience Logistic Solutions (RLS), in partnership with Global Defence Solutions (GDS), has completed the delivery of five custom-built transportable shower containers to the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to strengthen Victoria’s emergency response capability.
The self-contained units are designed for rapid deployment across the state, within disaster zones and remote locations. They provide essential hygiene facilities for emergency services personnel during extended incident operations.
Each system is built within a robust 20-foot container engineered to perform in harsh Australian conditions and built for durability during transport over rough, unsealed terrain. They feature fold-down stairs for safe and accessible entry and exit, allowing the units to be quickly packed up and redeployed without removing structural components. Integrated awnings provide shade and protection, increasing comfort for users in the field.
Each unit includes individual shower stalls with dry change areas, built-in sinks, clear identification signage and mirrors for personal comfort and hygiene. Features such as exhaust vents in each shower, environmental sealing, and slip-resistant commercial-grade flooring all support safety and performance in challenging environments.
The systems are equipped with dedicated mechanical rooms that allow for easy access during servicing. These operational areas house a gas-powered hot water system that delivers consistent heated water and a 500L header water tank that acts as a backup to ensure consistent water pressure and flow, particularly when the system is connected to mains and multiple showers are in use simultaneously. The fully integrated 3,000L sullage tank manages greywater collection.
“These shower systems will make a real difference, especially for emergency services personnel, as they provide clean, reliable facilities in places where comfort is often hard to come by,” said Jeromy Bendall, Alkath Group Director of Operations and Program Delivery.
“We’ve designed the systems to be easy to transport, quick to deploy, and durable in challenging conditions,” Bendall said. “They provide dignity, comfort and support in moments of crisis. At the end of the day, our goal is to deliver solutions that work – to take one thing off the minds of those who are already going through so much.”
The containerised design ensures a ten-year operational lifespan, allowing DEECA to rapidly respond across various scenarios with reusable, long-term assets.
This project builds on RLS’ long-standing expertise in rapidly deployable infrastructure, developed over decades of work supporting defence and emergency service operations across Australia.
