Australian SME Global Defence Solutions (GDS) has announced a significant expansion of its operations with the signing of an agreement for a new 2,225sqm facility in Southeast Queensland.

The new facility, currently under development in Bundamba, southwest of Brisbane, is expected to be operational by 1st July 2024.

“We are not just investing in a new premise; we are building the future of GDS in Southeast Queensland,” said GDS General Manager Jeromy Bendall. “This is in direct response to the growing needs of our defence partners.”

The new Queensland location will enable GDS to replicate the success of its Nowra operations, which have been pivotal for 25 years.

“Our plan is to bring the same level of expertise and service to this critical location in Queensland,” Bendall said.

“This expansion will accommodate our growing business and provide us with the ability to support larger projects, especially ones related to civilian emergency services. There will be tangible benefits for our Queensland defence and civilian partners, including reduced transportation costs and downtime for maintenance and repairs.”

As part of the company’s strategic growth plan, GDS has also announced the acquisition of its fourth building in South Nowra.

This expansion is set to increase the company’s production capabilities significantly, further enhancing its commitment to providing comprehensive services to the Australian Defence Force.

“These expansions also reflect our dedication to supporting the local economy and manufacturing sector,” said Bendall.

“With these strategic moves, GDS is positioning itself as a key player in the defence industry, both domestically and with the potential for future exports.”
