About the Role
As Manager – Commercial Finance, you will play a critical role in driving financial performance, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring strong commercial governance across the business.
This role is suited to a senior finance professional with 10+ years’ experience in engineering, manufacturing and/or project-based environments, where you have supported complex programs, cost structures and commercial decision-making.
You will lead budgeting and forecasting processes, develop integrated financial models, and partner with engineering, operations, and business development teams to support tenders, projects, and enterprise performance.
This is a highly visible role combining strategic insight with hands-on financial analysis and business partnering.
Position reports to the Director of Finance & Commercial.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise budgeting, multi-year planning and rolling forecasts
- Develop and maintain integrated financial models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow)
- Provide commercial input into bids, tenders and pricing decisions
- Support cost estimation, margin analysis and financial risk assessment
- Deliver project financial performance reporting, including margin and cost tracking
- Monitor revenue, orderbook and forecast alignment with business performance
- Provide detailed sales, margin and cost centre reporting and analysis
- Analyse labour productivity, utilisation and recovery performance
- Support capital investment decisions through NPV/IRR modelling and ROI tracking
- Ensure strong financial governance across change proposals and commercial decisions
- Partner with stakeholders across engineering, operations and corporate functions
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting and insights
To Succeed in This Role, You Will Have
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or related discipline
- Professional qualifications (CA, CPA or equivalent)
- Significant experience in commercial finance, FP&A or project finance roles
- Strong financial modelling skills, including integrated three-statement models
- Experience supporting bids, tenders or project-based environments
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence decision-making
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis capability
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders in a complex organisation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into insights
- Experience in defence, aerospace, engineering or project-based industries
- Exposure to ERP and/or project finance systems
- Experience with capital modelling (NPV, IRR) and business case development
- Knowledge of working capital, cashflow modelling and contract financial structures
