We’re looking for a qualified Electrician to join our South Nowra manufacturing team. This is a unique opportunity to work on bespoke Defence projects where no two builds are the same. You’ll collaborate with engineers, fabricators, mechanical fitters and production specialists to manufacture innovative deployable infrastructure from concept through to final commissioning.

About the Position:

This is a full-time permanent position. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday 6:15am – 3:30pm, with every second Friday off, and a lunch time finish on the other Friday.

As the GDS Electrician, you will prepare, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment within custom-designed deployable infrastructure. Working from engineering drawings and specifications, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality Defence solutions in a modern manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose faults in electrical systems and components.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and to a high standard of client satisfaction.
  • Install, assemble, operate and test electrical components, including soldering small components, hand crimping, circuit testing, fitting electrical components to control panels, and point-to-point wiring.
  • Perform maintenance, repair and overhaul activities as required.
  • Assist with site preparation and housekeeping to maintain a safe and organised work environment.
  • Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the reporting of hazards, unsafe conditions and faulty equipment.
  • Provide general labouring and operational support to your immediate team and other teams across the organisation as required.
About You

You are a qualified Electrician who enjoys hands-on work, solving technical challenges and building high-quality products from the ground up.

You’ll bring:

  • A minimum of five years’ post-apprenticeship experience as a qualified Electrician.
  • A current NSW Electrical Licence.
  • Experience with communications and fibre optic cabling (preferred).
  • Familiarity with AS/NZS 3001.2:2022 – Electrical Installations – Transportable Structures and Vehicles.
  • High-quality workmanship and a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant electrical standards, legislation and safe work practices.
  • A solid understanding of electrical theory, principles, materials and equipment.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools associated with electrical work.
  • Good mathematical and measurement skills.
  • A Working at Heights Licence (preferred).
